2019 – 2020 Monthly League Competition

The monthly league competition for 2019-2020 will be run, as in previous years, with four Open competitions, and four Themed competitions.

Below you will find a list of the Competition Themes. Each theme has a brief definition supplied. We have chosen themes which we believe can be shot with just about any camera. No special equipment needed. So just use your imagination and creativity.

If you have any questions or queries, please ask at one of our clubhouse meetings or contact the Cork Camera Group Competitions Secretary, Paul Flynn.

Four Themes for 2019 – 2020 Monthly League Competition

  1. Emotion
A photograph depicting a strong feeling deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.
  2. Environmental Portraiture
An environmental portrait is a portrait executed in the subject’s usual environment, such as in their home or workplace, and typically illuminates the subject’s life and surroundings. The term is most frequently used of a genre of photography.
  3. The Natural World
Any image monochrome or colour, which depicts any creature (domesticated or otherwise), any living plant (cultivated or otherwise), any natural/biological/environmental aspect or feature, or any weather phenomenon to illustrate their view of the natural world. Humans may be included, if they are shown within their place in the world or interacting with it.

4. Texture

When talking about photography, texture refers to the visual quality of the surface of an object; revealed through variances in shape, tone and color depth. Texture brings life and vibrancy to images that would otherwise appear flat and uninspiring.
