by Joe Forde – Cork Salon Chairman
Our 4th Salon Exhibition and Awards Ceremony took place on Saturday May 6th at St. Peter’s on North Main St. and we were complimented by the attendance of the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Des Cahill and the Lady Mayoress Ankie Janssen. In his address the Lord Mayor paid tribute to the success of the Salon and outlined his interest in the photographic endeavours of our members.
Four successful workshops took place throughout the day
- Niamh Whitty – Preparing for Distinctions
- Marek Biegalski – Chasing the Auora
- Kevin Murphy – Wildlife Photography & Conservation
- Morgan O Neill – Textures in Creative Portraiture
I was particularly delighted to present a FIAP Gold Medal to Vincent Kelly and not one but two PSA Silver Medals to Morgan O’Neill. It is especially pleasing when winners are of our own club. It was gratifying that photographers from around the country turned up to accept their awards.
As Chairman of the Salon I expressed the gratitude, on behalf of Cork Camera Group, to all who contributed to the success of the event namely the Judges, the Salon Committee, various volunteers from CCG , those who gave the workshops,
Eileen O’Shea of St. Peter’s, our sponsors and advertisers.
A pleasant reception took place after the Awards Ceremony and according to St Peter’s 519 people visited the event during the day.
Chairman Cork Int.Salon of Photography.
Finally as a foot note to the above I wish to thank everybody who helped in any way during the year in the bringing the 4th Salon to a successful conclusion and all those who attended during the day. I would particularly say thanks to the Salon Committee and a debt of gratitude will be forever due to them from CCG for the last four years.
