Cork Camera Group kicked off the 2018/2019 year this evening, holding its first meeting of the year in the club rooms at 36 St Patrick’s Quay, Cork. The first night back was our usual catch up with club members not seen since before the summer, and we laid out our plan for the year in terms of events, guest speakers,  competition themes, the Cork International Salon of Photography,  and proposed outings.

Next Tuesday we have a presentation from Charlie O’Donovan  – ‘My Photographic Journey – an Awakening’.

See you then

If you would be interested in joining the Cork Camera Group and have an interest in photography as a hobby or would like to learn a bit more about photography the club is open to new members of all levels.  You will find a bit more about the club below.

Cork Camera Group

Cork Camera Group (CCG)  is a  medium-sized camera club situated in the heart of Cork city, based at 36 Patrick’s Quay,  a short distance from Brian Boru Bridge. We welcome all types of members, everyone from beginners to the more advanced. We organise workshops, host visiting speakers and go on outings in order to gain practical experience in the field of photography. We also run advice and critique nights at which members are given constructive and friendly feedback on their work. Members have a wide variety of interests. Some are keen landscape/seascape photographers; others prefer wildlife photography whilst others are interested in people and portrait photography. There are also those who are interested in experimental photography, using their camera and Photoshop or other software skills to create works that challenge the imagination and push the boundaries of creativity.

We hold a monthly in club competition. For this members submit three works. The themes for half of the competitions are open; the remainder are supplied by the club. CCG s a member of the Southern Association of Camera Clubs (SACC) and as such take part in interclub competitions. We are also affiliated to the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) and as such take part in competitions at a national level.

Members are united by a love of photography in all its aspects. You are most welcome to come along to one of our meetings to see if it is a club that meets your needs and you would care to belong to.

We meet each Tuesday of the month at 7.45pm at 36 Patrick’s Quay.
